Croatia-Albania, the rough Balkans, a true off-road paradise!

This journey takes you from beautiful Croatia, straight through the Velebit Mountains, to rugged Albania. We'll let you enjoy stunning views, clear seas, beautiful scenery, and above all, fantastic 4x4 driving!

The Balkans are vast, grand, varied, diverse, and above all, a breathtaking 4x4 paradise. It's no wonder many trips are planned here. We've put together a journey that highlights the diversity of the Balkans. The journey begins at the foot of the Northern Velebit Mountains, right on the coast in Croatia, in the beautiful historic town of Senj. Our adventure begins at the campsite, right on the sea. We drive south through the forests of the Northern Velebit Mountains, ultimately ending in central Albania at Klos on the Mat River. During our journey, we'll cross no fewer than four countries : Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania.

We'll be wild camping in the most beautiful places under the stars, wherever we can and are allowed. In Croatia, for example, free camping isn't permitted, so we've chosen comfortable campsites. We'll also be staying in hotels several times.

On September 13th, we'll gather at the campsite in Senj. During this arrival day, you can settle in and enjoy all the beauty Senj has to offer. Around 7 p.m., we'll head to the restaurant for dinner together. This way, we'll quickly get to know each other and break the ice.

So, we'll begin our trip on September 14th and gradually build up to the real off-road 4x4 action. Each country has its own highlights and breathtaking vistas. So, you'd better have enough room on your camera to capture all this beauty. Despite the long journey—a whopping 1,650 km!—we'll take plenty of time to admire all this beauty. We'll be enjoying many kilometers, but certainly not driving a rally! We'll be crossing four countries, so don't forget your ID and/or passport! On September 24th, we'll conclude the tour and say goodbye after breakfast. We'll also spend the last day at a hotel.

This trip has so many highlights, literally and figuratively, that you don't want to miss this adventure. 

How do you prepare for this journey?

Together with our local guide, Freddy, we'll lead you through this entire adventure. We'll even accompany you on the challenging sections, ensuring you overcome the toughest obstacles without any problems. So you don't have to be a die-hard off-roader to participate, although some experience will certainly help you get the most out of it.

A fully equipped 4x4 with low gearing and all-terrain tires is essential. Your vehicle must be well-maintained and in (very) good mechanical condition. If your vehicle does have any issues, we'll be happy to provide advice and assistance to get you back on the road. If you'd like to brush up on your skills beforehand, you can take a 4x4 training course with us.

A CB radio is a must! It allows us to stay in touch while driving, announce driving tips and stops, and report potentially dangerous situations like oncoming traffic. Don't have a CB radio? You can rent or purchase one from us.

Recovery gear and/or a winch can be useful, but you don't need to bring any. Our vehicle, as well as our guide's, is equipped with a powerful winch, and we have plenty of recovery gear with us.

Please note! Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania are not covered by all insurance companies as standard. So be sure to check this with your insurance broker. If your insurance company has excluded these countries, Freddy can take out a separate insurance policy for you in Albania. You can also do this yourself at the border, but we advise against it.
